38th Halad Kang Mano Amon Run, bike race in Danao today

IT’S all systems go for today’s “Halad Kang Mano Amon Run 2016” that will start and finish at the Danao City boardwalk, in Danao City, north Cebu.

The event which is now on its 38th year, has already drawn 700 plus runners as of yesterday noon. They will compete in the 12-kilometer, 6k and 3k divided into different categories according to Danao City Sports Commission Chairman Oscar Boying” Rodriguez Jr.

The running event which pays tribute to Danao City’s grand old man Ramon “Mano Amon” Durano Sr., will be giving out P34,000 in cold cash and medals to the winners from each distance.

The 12k will be an open category for both men and women while the 6k race is open for Danao City’s high school students and its residents. The 3k run is for elementary division students.

The race will kick off at 6 in the morning.

After the run, there will also be a cross country cycling race covering a 130-kilometer route traversing Danao City and Bogo City.

There will be three categories to be featured in the cycling event namely the open elite, 39-below and 40-above.
