A male graduating college student drowned when diving into the Kawasan Falls in Barangay Matotinao, Badian Cebu, Monday afternoon.
Pronounced dead on arrival at the Badian provincial hospital was Alrene Bersalote, 18, of Barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City.
He was a fourth year working student of Cebu Technological University (CTU) main campus taking up Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
Bersalote sustained severe head injuries when he landed in a shallow portion of the water from the second level of the water falls.
PO1 Rico Lirasan of the Badian police station said the victim along with 15 other working students agreed to come to the place to hold a Christmas party. They arrived in the area at around 9 a.m.
The incident happened at around 4 p.m.
PO1 Lirasan said that the relatives of the victim already went to the town to bring his body back home in Mandaue City.
