Two died when a motorcycle and an L300 van collided while travelling along the national road of Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla on Tuesday dawn.
The fatalities were identified as Carl Dave Alvial, 23, single and Brian Dominic Abella, 21, single both residents of Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla.
According to Po3 Nicky Carlo Plarisan of the Minglanilla police station, the victims were riding on a single motorcycle driven by Alvial. They were heading south.
Upon reaching the place, an L300 van driven by Benjie Caontod, 29, single of Barangay Tisa, Cebu City encroached on their lane as he was overtaking another vehicle heading for Cebu City.
Alvial and Abella were thrown of the motorcycle following the head-on collision. They were immediately brought to Minglanilla district hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
Police are now preparing a case of reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide and damage to property against the driver who is now detained at the Minglanilla police station.
