On Instagram I found The Kismet Shop and started browsing their pretty bracelets. There were several that caught my fancy—not at all cheesy—and, let’s just say, fit my needs, too.
Luckily, I was able to set an appointment with one of its owners, Juvvy de Leon, and we talked about how a simple bracelet gift turned into a fascination, that later became the inspiration to a business venture in October 2016.
“May idea na ako about crystal bracelets, but I was not that interested until someone gave me one. So I started reading up about them, and before I knew it, I was buying more and more,” said Juvvy.
It could have been fate that led her, a friend and her sister-in-law to set up an online store called The Kismet Shop, from the Turkish word meaning “destiny.”

“We can customize a bracelet based on your birthday, or what you want to achieve this year, be it success, abundance, good health or love,” she said.
Or, if you’re undecided which crystals to string together for your bracelet, Juvvy says, “The crystal would choose you, like fate is telling you that you will need it sooner or later.
“Especially during displays where maraming magaganda, pero there will be a specific stone that will capture your attention. You may not need it yet, but later you will realize why it has called you.”
Curious, I sat in front of the crystals Juvvy laid out before me and examined them one by one.
I swear that I was drawn to a clear blue stone I learned was topaz, which turns out to be the writer’s stone. Talk about destiny.
