The Cebu City government is set to distribute P2,000 financial assistance to at least 67,300 registered senior citizens in all 80 barangays in the city.
The beneficiaries will receive the first tranche of the P12,000 yearly financial assistance tomorrow.
Mayor Tomas Osmeña intends to distribute the cash assistance for senior citizens residing in the mountain barangays in their respective barangay halls, and in designated places for seniors living in urban areas.
“We will consider exemptions. This is not a hard and fast rule. If it can be pointed out that schools or some other place is more convenient for the people and for the elderly, of course, we will consider that,” he said.
Domingo Chaves, head of the Office for Senior Citizen’s Affairs (OSCA), said that the distribution will start at 8 a.m. until noon.
The city government has allocated more than P807 million for this year’s cash aid program.
