USJ-R, USC volley teams advance to Prisaa National Finals

THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Spiking Jaguars and the University of San Carlos (USC) Lady Warriors earned their respective dates with destiny as they advanced to the National Finals of the Private Schools Athletics Association (PRISAA) regional meet after sweeping their respective best-of-three titular series in volleyball yesterday in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Fresh from their 26-24, 21-25, 29-27, 25-23 Game 1 victory, the Spiking Jaguars suffered a few bumps at the start of Game 2 before getting their rhythm back to defeat the Bohol select team, 14-25,28-26,25-22,25­18.

The win more put USJ-R back to national finals for the first time since 2013.

Meanwhile, the Lady Warriors did not show any signs of fatigue after coming off a hard-earned 25-21, 15-25, 18-25, 22-25 opening game victory on Friday night as they outlasted Team Bohol, 25-13, 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, to also book a ticket to the national finals which will be held in Zambales later this year.
