AFTER losing in the 22nd JRG Cup recently, Cebuano netter Douglas Maravillas bounced back in style as he blanked Aaron Kevin Tabura, 4-0, 4-0, to pocket the 10-unisex tiara of the 19th HEAD Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit yesterday at the Citigreen Tennis Resort in Brgy. Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
The nine-year-old from Asturias, Cebu first cruised past VJ Cañete, who denied him of the 22nd JRG Gullas Cup crown, via walkover.
Maravillas continued his hot run in the semifinals when he dominated Gio Manito, 4-0, 4-1, before stopping the crowd-favorite Tabura.
“I just enjoyed the game and had fun inside the court,” said the soft-spoken Maravillas, who started playing tennis competitively at the age of six.
Meanwhile, top seed Nicolas Allain Ocat and Andre Kenny Sing forged a titular showdown for the 12-under boy’s division after outlasting Alejandro Barrientos, 7-6 (3), 6-2 and Hans Cabellon, 6-3, 6-3, respectively.
