AFTER taking a weeklong vacation on a cruise ship, one of Cebu’s fast rising junior triathletes, Moira Frances Erediano, scored a podium finish in the 2017 Alaska Ironkids Aquathlon event in Metro Manila last Sunday.

Erediano, who topped the 11-12 years old category of the Alaska Ironkinds Triathlon in Subic Bay, Olonggapo last month, finished third in the 300-meter swim and 2k run race in 13 minutes and 55 seconds.

Katrina Salazar took the gold in 13:46 followed by Ryza Quiele Baluyot at second in 13:47.

This year alone, the 13-year-old Erediano won numerous footraces and triathlon events. Last January she finished third in the 10th Cebu City Marathon 5k race. She then placed second in the same category of the Solidarity Run 2017 last February and topped the 3k race of the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Bubble Run last March.

In the same month, the Lapu-Lapu City native and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) student dominated the 13-15 years old category of the National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) Cebu Leg held in Camotes Island. After her NAGT stint, she ruled the 3k race of the Dagan Para sa Kinaadman and placed second in the 3k race of the Summer Fun Run.
