Abarquez to compete in Albay

CEBUANA tennis sensation Elizabeth Abarquez will leave for Legazpi, Albay today as she set her sights on winning a twin kill in the Palawan Pawnshop – Palawan Express Pera Padala (PPS-PEPP) regional tennis tournament today at the Lignon and DPWH Tennis Courts in Albay.

The 15-year-old Abarquez, who will be taking part in the 16-U and 18-U girls divisions, believes that it wouldn’t be easy for her to sweep the titles in both divisions with the presence of Patricia Corporal and Taytay, Rizal’s Melanie Dizon.

“I want to win at least a championship but it would be hard for me because there are a lot of good players but I will just do my very best and with God’s guidance, I can play well and enjoy the game,” Abarquez said.

Abarquez will start her campaign against Ella Vargas in the 16-U division on Sunday at 8 a.m. before battling Joanne Lorn in the 18-U category later that afternoon.
