THE 12TH edition of the University Run (UR) of the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) will pay tribute to late CDU president and chairman of the board Dr. Potenciano Larrazabal Jr., who passed away last June 28.

The running event is slated on Aug. 20 with the start/end point at the CDU campus at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III said that this year’s edition pays tribute to his father, who is one of the brainchild of the running event.

“The two of us conceptualized the University Run. He was the one who named this yearly running event University Run and he was the one who formed this that’s why we want to pay tribute to him,” said Yong, adding that the finishers medals will have his father’s face on them.

Distances for this year’s non-competitive race were shortened. From the 25-kilometer three-bridge challenge last year, the longest distance this year will be 10k. The other distances are 5k and 3k.

Winners in each distance will receive prizes in kind.

Proceeds of this run, which is held in line with CDU’s University Week, will go to the Run for Sight Foundation.

Registration fee is P500 for the 10k, P400 for the 5k and P300 for 3k. Registration is going on at the CDU campus, hospital and at the Run For Sight Foundation office.
