Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama vetoed an ordinance that would give management of a covered court in barangay Punta Princesa to a homeowner’s association.

Rama vetoed City Ordinance 2370 which would have given the management of the public covered court in sitio Manggahan to the president of Punta Princesa Manggahan Homeowners’ Association, Inc.

In his veto letter, Rama said that the lot and the covered court itself are owned by the City Hall and it is within his power as chief executive to designate the barangay council to manage the public facility.

“From what I know, there is money involved in the use of the covered court. Are they accountable? Do they issue receipts and submit it to the treasurer’s office?” said City Legal Officer Jerone Castillo.

The veto will be tackled in the City Council’s session today.
