A jail guard assigned at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) is under investigation by the Capitol’s committee on discipline and investigation for bringing fighting cocks inside the facility last Monday.

Acting Provincial Warden Robert Legaspi said the guard was transferred to another post away from the inmates. Last Monday’s incident was the second time he was caught bringing fighting cocks at jail.

“The first time was back in March. When I was there I noticed there were some chickens. There are actually 35 but they were away from the inmates. I was told by him that he was just raising them in our property. I have him removed it,” Legaspi said.

Eleven fighting cocks were found near the kitchen area where the inmates are around.

Legaspi believed the jail guard brought them two months ago.

Legaspi said the guard may have brought it inside the jail through the government vehicle he drove in and out of the compound.
