The Cebu provincial government may consider donating a portion of the province’s property in barangay Lahug, Cebu City to house the proposed new headquarters of the police’s Regional Crime Laboratory Office in Central Visayas.

“That (building) will really help us because it will house their major equipment for DNA testing. That will cater not only to Region 7 but also to other areas,” Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III said.

Davide said he will first seek the approval of the Cebu Provincial Board (PB) for the donation of the 1,000 sq. meter-lot beside the existing office building of the Cebu provincial police office in sitio Sudlon.

Senior Supt. Nestor Sator, chief of the Philippine National Police-Regional Crime Lab 7, and other police officials, personally visited Davide to request an area for their new headquarters.

Sator said their regional office will receive financial support to construct a “modern crime facility” in the province.

He said they share office space with the Cebu City police inside Camp Sotero Cabahug.

Davide said he will also ask the province’s real estate and properties division head on the available space between the existing building of the Cebu Provincial Police Office and Philippine

Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in sitio Sudlon.

Province-owned lots in the same site were also donated to other law enforcement agencies like the National Bureau Of Investigation (NBI-7) in Central Visayas.

The Regional Crime Laboratory is a support unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that provides scientific investigation services, fieldwork, scene of crime operations, forensic laboratory service and research.
