‘Bakbakan sa Sabang’ slugfest unfolds on August 5
BIG Yellow Boxing Promotions will stage Bakbakan Sa Sabang 3 on Aug. 5 at the barangay Sabang gymnasium in Danao City, north Cebu.
The double-header main event will feature Big Yellow Boxing Gym’s Cris Ganoza and Dennis Guibao, who will be facing Boholano Garry Rojo and Cebuano Welberto Rota, respectively.
Ganoza, the 22-year-old Matalom, Leyte native, is one of the top prospects in the country’s light flyweight division. He has a record of 12 wins (six knockouts), one defeat and no draws.
His foe, 22-year-old Rojo, has a record of 7-10-0 (win-loss-draw). He won his last two bouts by knockouts in Bohol.
Guibao and Rota, meanwhile, will be fighting in their first pro bout.
Both Ganoza and Guibao are now training at the Big Yellow Boxing Gym in Lagtang, Talisay City under the tutelage of veteran boxing trainer Christopher Tepora, the former chief trainer of Omega Boxing Gym.
The supporting bouts are Rey Labao versus Ryan Quimbo, Ken Jordan versus Anthony Galigao, and April Jay Abne against Roman Getalada.
Big Yellow Promotions is headed by promoter Seth Oliver Tio.
