Strong start for Landmasters

THE CEBU Landmasters got their title defense off to a rousing start as they edged the Gaisano Capital, 69-65, in Division A action at the start of the 22nd Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABA) Basketball Tournament Powered by Common Ground on Sunday at the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman, Mandaue City.

In the other game of Division A, Harley Davidson clobbered the Ateneo de Cebu Team B, 74-41.

In Division B, Core Pacific 2000, Dynacast 2001, Savers Depot 1995 and King Properties 1993 emerged victorious over their respective opponents.

Core Pacific annihilated Silver Anniversary 1992, 81-23; Dynacast routed Filmon 1994, 87-46; Savers Depot blew away San Remegio Properties 2002, 69-53 while King Properties edged Autolab 1999, 41-38.

In Division C, Radar Tires 2004 outgunned the Bling Nation 2014, 51-45, even as People’s General 2015 won over Kitrol 2003, 53-37. Bizol 2005 also edged past Hyskos 2013, 57-55.

Several luminaries of Ateneo de Cebu headed by school president Fr. Manny Uy along with SHAABAA board members Regan King and Franco Soberano attended the grand opening ceremonies.
