CHR PROBE
Netizens have different opinions about the report that the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) will be investigating the deaths of alleged rogue cop PO3 Ryan Quiamco, and his pregnant wife Rizalyn, in the hands of anti-drug police operatives.
Erwin Managaytay, in a Facebook post, believed the “CHR has the right to investigate being the commission tasked to determine if there are violations.” He added, “Nothing to worry if there are no wrongdoings. … Let the law take its course.”
Roxan Gonzales, on the other hand, sympathized with the family of the Quiamco couple and said, “Another lives taken. This is surely a dark time for the families they left. If they are into illegal activities, they should have just been jailed. If they aren’t, they deserve to live.”
Yet another Facebook user, Rosalie Abatayo, backed the CHR probe: “The constitutional mandate of the CHR is to make sure that nobody’s right is stepped on during police operations, especially these kinds of cases where the operation (cost) three lives. If there is no foul play, so be it. Just let them do their job. If the police themselves welcome investigations, why should we question?”
