THE Christ’s Commission Fellowship announced their intentions for the title as they upset the reigning champions Athletes for Christ in Excellent Service (ACES), 55-40, in the 34-under division of the 2014 Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) basketball tournament over the weekend at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
CCF banked on a torrid fourth-period run that saw them outscore the Aces, 29-9, to overhaul a 26-31 deficit and zoom away with the win.
The Alocillo brothers, Aldrian and Kareem, did the most damage as they combined for 22 points in the win.
In other games, the CFGA leaned on the efforts of University of the Visayas standout Theo Flores, who scored 17, to defeat BUCCI, 56-52.
Living Word Talisay also notched a 57-56 win over Ashtec Life Giver behind the 15 of Roy Quiachon while the Nissi Academy routed Cross Pointe, 53-31.
Former Letran star Franz Dysam had 25 points to lead the Praise Cathedral Nets to an 85-75 win over the BHCF while the Faith Eagles destroyed the JMO, 72-51, thanks to the 11 points of former Cebu Institute of Technology-University guard Axel Rabaya. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
