BINIBINING CEBU 2017: Miss Alcantara and Miss Borbon

THE FIRST ever Binibining Cebu will be crowned on Oct. 28. Among the ladies vying for the title are Ethel T. Elic of Alcantara and Jarred Lou Mangubat of Borbon. Get to know more of these lovely candidates:

Ethel T. Elic

Age: 21 

Town: Alcantara

Hobbies/Interests: Volleyball, trecking, mountain climbing, and camping, badminton, and reading books J

ob: Customer Service Representative

Title: Miss Alcantara 2014 1st runner up

ETHEL T. Elic wants to join Binibining Cebu because she wants to showcase the beauty of the town she represents.

Elic wears the sash for the municipality of Alcantara, a town in southwest Cebu which is 98 kilometers away from Cebu City.

Alcantara was known before as “Kogtong,” a large fresh water fish found in the center of the town.

“Alcantara is bestowed with a bounty of resources on land and in the seas,” she said.

The town celebrates the Bahandi Festival, a thanksgiving for the blessings received by its people, especially in terms of agriculture, and in honor of Saint Augustine de Hippo.

Jarred Lou Mangubat

Age: 20

Town: Borbon

Hobbies/Interests: Reading and watching vlogs, volleyball, badminton, chess,  spending time with family and friends

Job: Real estate salesperson

Title: Ms. Tabango Festival Queen 2016 

AFTER  failing  to get the Ms. Masbate 2016 title, she took a break from joining pageants but Jarred Lou Mangubat decided to use God’s gifts to her—including her  wisdom and passion.

Mangubat is making a comeback in the pageantry as she joins Binibining Cebu and as official candidate of the town of Borbon.

“Borbon is a lovely and peaceful place. My town has so much potential in becoming one of the most visited places in Cebu because we have great beaches that can be turned into an elegant resorts, wide shorelines, and beautiful mountains that can be developed into a park,” she said.

The town also has Silmugi River and St. Sebastian Martyr Parish Church believed to be one of the oldest churches in Cebu prior to its demolition after World War II.
