ASPA Scaffolding bested Christwil, 98-92, to hoist the title in the Open Division of the 2017 Mayor Eddie Gullas Cup basketball tournament on Saturday night at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
Russel Moneva led ASPA’s offensive with 21 points, and was eventually named as the tournament MVP.
He also gained a spot in the prestigious Mythical Five alongside his teammates Joemil Baribe and Alfred Codilla. Completing the elite quintet were
Allan Dimco and Joshua dela Cerna of Christwil.
ASPA actually trailed, 68-71, at the start of the fourth but came alive and dominated that stretch, 30-21, to score the win, the title and the P80,000 cash prize.
