THE CONVERGYS Converters grabbed the last ticket to the finals in the Elite Classic division after they outlasted the Accenture Sharks, 65-57, in the deciding Game Three of the semifinals in the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 13, the other day at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

The win gave the Converters a 2-1 series advantage to land themselves in the championship round opposite the Teleperformance All Stars. Convergys also kept its bid for a third straight title alive.

Kenneth Dysam flirted with a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds while younger brother, Franz, had 10 points, three assists and three steals. Sherwin Resilla also chipped in 10 for the Converters.

Convergys started strong and led, 32-25, at halftime. Accenture sliced a point off the deficit, 37-43, heading to the fourth, but the Converters refused to budge in the final canto to nab the win.

Upset

In the Evo League, the QBE Generals ousted the top-ranked Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties with a 67-64 win in Game Two to sweep the semifinals, 2-0.

The Generals actually trailed by 10, 22-32, at halftime before a huge uprising in the third put them in front, 45-43. QBE then held its ground in the penultimate canto to complete massive upset of the number one seed.

Stuart Foot led QBE with 22 points, Johnrey Girasol added 18 markers and five steals while Jecon Bonsucan put up 17 points, five steals and four assists to spoil the stellar 30-point showing of Tech Mahindra’s Robert Rebano.

In the other semis match-up, The Results Spartans knotted their series with the Contact Solutions Flying Lemurs, 1-1, after they crushed the latter, 81-40.

The writing was on the wall early as the Spartans roared to a 16-4 first period lead, which they promptly extended to 45-14 at halftime.

A 26-4 run in the fourth hammered the final nail in the Lemurs’ coffin as the Spartans sent the series to a decider this weekend.

Four players scored in double figures for The Results led by Jade Seno’s 18 points to go with six rebounds, six assists and three steals.
