Generika Drugstore, the pioneer in the retail of generic medicines, celebrated its 14th year anniversary through a nationwide Libreng Konsulta (free medical consultation) last September 23.

Generika Drugstore branches located in 72 key cities from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao participated in the event, serving 20,000 customers.
“We want to thank our customers for their patronage in our fourteen years of business,” said founder and president of Generika Drugstore, Teodoro L. Ferrer. “Libreng Konsulta has been Generika Drugstore’s way of delivering plus services to the Filipino people.”

Generika Drugstore has provided access to quality, affordable generic medicines and basic healthcare for the ordinary Filipino. Beyond offering generic medicines, Generika Drugstore offers plus services which include the Gamot Guide, MedPadala, and Libreng Konsulta.

The Gamot Guide is a printed reminder that goes with a customer’s medicine purchase containing instructions on medicine intake, possible side effects, and proper storage. This is further strengthened through Patient Counseling, which every Generika Drugstore Pharmacist does when dispensing medicines to customers. In 2014, it introduced MedPadala – an electronic gift certificate that can be given or sent to family and friends for the purchase of medicines in any Generika Drugstore nationwide.

Established at a time when prices of medicines were very high, and generic medicines as an alternative were largely not available, Generika Drugstore’s business model was inclusive from the beginning. Generika Drugstore has created shared value by catering an underserved market.

After fourteen years, the company is primed for faster growth given its recent partnership with Ayala Corporation through AC Health. “Generika Drugstore, with AC Health as its partner, will be able to increase its reach to more customers nationwide in providing quality, affordable generic medicines and to make buying medicine more convenient, with a Generika Drugstore close to every barangay,” said Miko Montelibano, Executive Director – Ayala Corporation and Director – AC Health. /PR
