Two alleged shabu peddlers fall in Cebu City sting ops
POLICE arrested two men and seized more than 300 packs of suspected shabu in separate drug sting operations in Cebu City.
Tony Labaya, 51, and Ireneo Ministerio, 26, were arrested an hour apart.
Police seized 330 packs of suspected shabu from Labaya in sitio Sario, barangay Bulacao past midnight Thursday.
The raids were conducted by operatives of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force.
Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of CIB, said Labaya’s arrest came after one of the suspects’ neighbors tipped them off of his alleged illegal drug activity.
Santander said Labaya sold two packs believed to contain shabu to a poseur-buyer before he was arrested.
Labaya refused to comment on his arrest.
An hour earlier, police arrested Ministerio in barangay Pung-ol Sibugay.
A big pack and six sachets worth at least P100,000 were recovered from Ministerio’s possession.
Police said Ministerio admitted that he was forced to sell illegal drugs so he could help buy medicine for his mother, who he claims is an asthmatic.
Ministerio identified a certain Abloy as his source of illegal drugs, police said.
The two men will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, police said.
