UC, USJ-R jins show way in Smart-PTL Cebu
THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) once again dominated the Smart-Philippine Taekwondo League Cebu, which came to a close last Sunday at SM City Consolacion.
Both the Webmasters and Jaguars snared two gold medals in the tournament that features a team-on-team format. UC dominated the boys and girls category while the Jaguars ruled the seniors men’s and women’s competition.
St. Cecilia’s College and the Xanadu TKD Team of coach Larry Elpa finished second and third, respectively, in the boys contest. Xanadu also collared a silver in the girls contest while the Toledo Taekwondo Gym got the bronze.
In men’s action, the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors finished second while the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers placed third.
UV was second place in the women’s category.
Meanwhile, in the team poomsae showdown, USC regained the championship title after outclassing the Toledo TKD Team and Avengers TKD Gym, which settled for second and third, respectively.
Individual awards went to USJ-R’s Leandro Amang (best male player) and UC’s Sophia Labra (best female fighter).
