Piolo Pascual: ‘Time to move our tears away’

THE STAYING power of Piolo Pascual is in the shrills of the fans.

“I love you too,” the singer-actor replied after a fan shouted an endearment that interrupted his performance during the “I Got Stung” mini concert at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu last Saturday, Dec. 9, featuring the talents of Steps Dance Studio in ballet acts.

Or if it is not in the screams, perhaps, the mob of admirers that tailed him as he exited the stage going to his van service would define his relevance.

As part of the Christmas celebration, the repertoire highlighted the hits of British singer Sting (nay Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner).

In floral-printed midnight blue, short-sleeved shirt and straight-cut fit jeans, Pascual rendered a cover of Sting’s “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free,” “Roxanne,” and “Fragile.”

“What a cheerful way of celebrating this evening, but of course, the beautiful music of Sting. I grew up in the ’80s; I grew up singing his songs, the greatest storyteller of all times,” he said on stage.

“Christmas is just around the corner, and it lets me know that it’s time to move our tears away and share our holiday cheers.”
