Man shot dead after playing ‘hantak’

A man was shot dead after playing an illegal coin game locally known as “Hantak” in Barangay Upper Tapul, in Talisay on Thursday evening.

The victim was identified as Jovenel Cabigas, 28, who was shot by 25-year-old Robert Castañares.

According to  SPO2 Cecilio Miñoza, of the Talisay City Police Homicide section,  Cabigas and Castañares were playing “Hantak”, after losing the game Castañares reportedly draw out his 45 caliber gun and shot Cabigas.

Cabigas succumbed a gunshot wound to his head and his right arm and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.

Talisay City police are now conducting a hot pursuit operation against Castañares for his immediate arrest.
