THE Foressa Trails of the AboitizLand in Balamban town, western Cebu will be the virtual battleground for the warriors who will compete in the grueling Spartan Race Philippines on June 16.

In a press conference last Saturday at the Matic along Banilad Road, organizer Fred Joye and Carlo Sumayang announced the official venue of the grueling obstacle race that will offer a Spartan sprint distance of five-kilometer run with 20 signature obstacle courses.

“We decided to choose Foressa Trails because of its very ideal terrain for staging a Spartan Race. And it has a lot of natural obstacles that makes the race more exciting,” said Joye.

Aside from the sprint distance, Joye also revealed that they will add a kid’s category with a one-kilometer distance and three to six obstacles and the grueling Typhoon Race, an endurance workout routine that lasts three to four hours.

Registration has also opened at its official website spartanrace.ph.

According to Joye, they are expecting around 4,000 participants in the event.

The Foressa Trails was already used in an outdoor sporting event in October 2017 when it hosted the Salomon XTrail trail run.

The Cebu leg will be the third Spartan race in the country. The first was held in San Mateo Rizal in September last year while the next race will be on February 24 in Clark, Pampanga.

“Lots of people are already inquiring about the race and they seem to be pretty excited to join,” said Sumayang.
