GIUSEPPE FC and Cebu Sherilin Packaging triumphed via penalty shootouts to bag separate titles in the 5th Titans Football Cup yesterday at the PAREF Springdale football field in Lahug, Cebu City.
Giuseppe prevailed, 2-1, over the Abellana National School (ANS) to bring home the Under 13 Boys title. The regulation match ended in a scoreless draw.
Cebu Sherilin Packaging, on the other hand, clinched the Under 9 Mix title after besting Ateneo, 5-4, in the shootout following a 0-0 draw in regulation.
Giuseppe advanced to the final round with a 3-0 whipping of its sister team Giuseppe Gerry’s Grill while ANS scored a commanding 5-0 win over the Magis Blue in the semifinals.
In the Under 9 Mix, Cebu Shirilin Packaging bagged its finals ticket following a 1-0 edging of Fets while Ateneo crafted a 2-0 beating of the Einstein Mighty Geeks to advance to the championship round.
The two-day 7-a-side tournament attracted a total of 39 teams slightly lesser than last year.
Tournament director Kurt Acre said the lesser number of entries was because there were no teams coming from Don Bosco because the school was holding its family day.
