Village chief involved in ‘ghost delivery’ of construction materials resumes office today

Barangay Captain Renato Suson of Labogon, Mandaue City has been reinstated to his functions and responsibilities starting today, February 15.

The barangay captain was allegedly involved in a “ghost delivery” of construction materials to a recycling facility.

His 60-day preventive suspension supposedly to end on February 28, 2018 was cut short.

The Local Government Code provides that a preventive suspension already imposed is deemed automatically lifted when the 90-day election ban, immediately preceding a local election, sets in.

The Barangay and Sangguiniang Elections is set to be held May 14 this year.

Assistant city legal officer Allan James Sayson said that Suson can no longer hire or fire any barangay worker based on the provisions of the election ban.
