SAFETY WORRIES

The death of Ronda Vice Mayor and lawyer Jonnah John Ungab, the legal counsel of self-confessed Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, alarmed the netizens.
Ungab was ambushed by riding-in-tandem assailants along S. Osmeña Road, North Reclamation Area, Cebu City, past 11 a.m. on Monday and died in the hospital two hours later.

“Cebu is almost as bad in gun killings as Chicago USA. This will never stop until the Laws are so strict they will be a deterrent to crime. Criminals are not afraid as they know here in Cebu nobody wants to be involved,” wrote netizen Alan Schmidt.

Jamy Agpasa was horrified: “Grabe na kuno patay diri cebu! Everyday na! Hadlok na kaayo karon panahona, bisan kinsa nalang patyon!” (Killings in Cebu are rampant. It happens every day. It’s so scary these days.)

Another netizen, Vincent Boreggo Manatad lamented: “Naunsa naman ning Cebu oi.. napuno nas patay.. una aksidente sa SRP karon aksidente sa NRP” (What happened to Cebu? Too much killings. First, in South Road Properties, and now in the North Reclamation Area)
