Former Cebu City Mayor Michael “Mike” Rama’s announcement that he plans to run for mayor again in 2019 was meet with fanfare by his supporters and allies.
Rama called for a press conference, flanked by friends and allies, on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, to declare his plan to make another bid for the mayoral seat that he lost in 2016 to now Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
But even as his supporters cheered his decision, it did not sit well with some netizens.
A netizen named Henry Poblador wrote, “Ngeek, Ayaw na tawon uy… (Oh no! Please I beg you, don’t…) Give Cebuanos a break!”
Another, a certain Reggie Medida wrote, “Lain napud uyyyyy, kay nisalig unta mi nimo pag 2013 unya kay nilubad man ka.”
(Let someone else run for the position because we trusted you in 2013 and you changed.)
While Martin del Reo said, “Mayor maypag mo pahulay ka or focus on charity work rather than gunning for a seat in government napud. hehe we had enough.”
(Mayor, it’s best that you take a rest and focus on charity work rather than gun again for a seat in government.)
