Cebuana Hannah Bun doing well balancing work and training

IT CAN BE quite challenging when you’re trying to balance work and training.

But Cebuana athlete Hannah Bun is doing this just fine as she prepares for this weekend’s Tri-X Festival in Santa Fe town on Bantayan Island, Cebu.

Bun will compete in the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, 5k run triathlon on Saturday and will then race in the 40k circuit bike competition on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Bun currently works as a medical technologist at the Pinamungajan District Hospital. She trains as early as 5 a.m. in her hometown in Aloguinsan, 59 kilometers southwest of Cebu, everyday before she goes to work for her regular shift. In the afternoon, she continues training by doing easy runs.

“I started as a cyclist in college. At this time I’m already working so balancing sports and work isn’t that hard anymore,” Bun said.

Bun is coming from a silver medal finish in the Consolacion Mountain Bike Duathlon 2.0 in Consolacion town, Cebu last Sunday. She also won a silver in the same stint last year.

“The race last Sunday was a bike-run, so I’m focusing on swimming right now. Only light training. Then during the evening, I’m just doing recovery runs,” said Bun.

Tri.X is a sports festival that focuses its event on triathlon that combines mountainbike and road bikes races along with sprint races. The individual races have the duathlon and aquathlon, the ocean man and the bike circuit.
