THERE were 118,997 evacuees who were housed in 766 evacuation centers in Central Visayas, the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) said.

Supt. Renato Dugan, PRO-7 information officer, said they came out with these initial figures since their monitoring is hampered by brownouts and downed communication in Cebu, Bohol and Negros islands.

He said Cebu City had 15,965 evacuees, Mandaue City had 21, 221, Lapu-Lapu City had 24, 155 and Cebu Province, 12,782.

Dugan said 16 roads could no longer be used by vehicles in Central Visayas. 118,997 left their houses to seek shelter in centers.
