Sizzling start for Mandaue in Gov’s Cup tilt

MANDAUE City thrashed Borbon, 92-64, in cluster A of the Governor’s Cup 2018 Inter Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament quarterfinals yesterday at the Consolacion Municipal Gym.

Niño Matthew Paras finished with 16 points, 12 coming from the first half, where Mandaue put up a huge 52-25 lead at the turn.

Jared Michael Espina added 13 for Mandaue, which now holds a 1-0 (win-loss) record in the single round-robin quarters.

Only the top two per cluster will advance to the semis.

Michael Jay Cutamora scored 14 for Borbon.

In Cluster B, Medellin escaped Tuburan, 78-72, at the Balamban Municipal gym in West Cebu.

Gelmart Umpad exploded for 24 markers for the winning team.
