THE Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (Cepca) will hold two separate chess tournaments this weekend.
The age-group tournament will kick off Saturday at the J Center Mall while the monthly qualifying tournament for the month of June will be held at the Ayala Center Cebu on Sunday.
The age group tournament will feature a seven-round Swiss system format with 25-minutes playing time.
The tournament will have three age group categories in under-12, under-16, and under-20.
The champion in each age group category will receive P1,500 while the runners-up will each receive P1,000, P600 for the third placer and P400 for the fourth placer. The tournament’s registration fee is pegged at P200.
The monthly qualifying tournament, meanwhile, will feature two categories—A and B—using a five-round Swiss system format.
Category A will have five minutes playing time while category B will have 15 minutes.
The tournament’s champion will qualify for the grand finals this December and will join other monthly qualifiers in Eduard dela Torre (January), Mario Bustillo (February), Rogelio Enriquez Jr. (March), Joselito Loquez (April), and Zilberstein Torres (May).
Both tournaments will kick off at 12 noon.
