Lapu-Lapu City’s traffic authorities issued yesterday an advisory for the 2018 Regent Aguila Ironman 70.3 ahead of its Aug. 5 staging.

The road closure for the event starts at 4:30 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m.

The areas to be closed to vehicular traffic will be the First Mandaue-Mactan Bridge, the left portion of ML Quezon Highway towards Barangay Pusok or Marcelo Fernan Bridge.

Also included are the whole stretch of the highway from the airport junction up to Punta Engaño, Mangal/Discovery Bay, the Mactan Circumferential Road from Mactan Junction up to Marigondon Crossing.

From Marigondon Crossing, the whole stretch of the Basak-Marigondon Road and Maximo V. Patalinghug to the Mandaue-Mactan bridge will likewise be closed.

The Matumbo road behind Lapu-Lapu City Hall will serve as an alternative road for those heading to and from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Marcelo Fernan Bridge will be open to all motorists coming from Mandaue City and heading to the airport (MCIAA) or from the airport to Mandaue City or Cebu City vice-versa.

All motorists were advised to follow signages installed at the roads/streets during the race and leave as early as possible or before the road closure especially hotel guests with scheduled flights.

All trucks, trailers, delivery vans and cargo trucks or dump trucks are advised not to travel during the race until the road closure is lifted.

Sewage Motumbo road to Sangi Junction, traversing Maximo Patalinjug Avenue for motorists bound to the public market and Cordova town is open.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said they will intensify their travel advisory campaign to notify the riding public and companies ahead of the event.
