BEFORE the month of July ends, the newest Filipino superhero will take over GMA-7’s primetime slot.
“Victor Magtanggol”—headlined by Pambansang Bae Alden Richards—will release its pilot episode on July 30, replacing “The Cure.”
Behind-the-scenes photos were shared by GMA Network on Friday, including details of some of the main characters.
Richards is introduced as overseas Filipino worker who works at the Norse mythology museum. Janine Gutierrez is Gwen, a tour guide in the same museum. Also in the photos is veteran actress Coney Reyes who plays Vivienne, mother of Victor. Richards and Reyes are shown in a couple of dramatic scenes.
Another photo shows Richards in full costume in snowy location.
A new trailer was released by GMA Network on YouTube early last week.
Richards enters a room where a foreign-looking man is shown with two guests, including Gutierrez.
“This is our very enthusiastic handyman, Victor Magtanggol,” the man says.
“Why are you here?” the man asks.
“I have to return your hammer sir,” Victor replies, referring to the Mjolnir.
“It is pronounced Mjolnir,” the man corrects Victor.
The Mjolnir will be Richards’ weapon in his journey as Victor Magtanggol.
After Gutierrez and her companion leave the office, the man then tells the story of Mjolnir as the most powerful weapon in the universe.
“One day it will return to this earth when it needed the most. Maybe in your hands?” the man says and both he and Victor laugh.
The cast
GMA Network has also introduced the cast of the fantasy series through a promotional video last week.
Pambansang Bae leads the cast in a dance montage for the official soundtrack “Superhero Mo” by Richards and the rap group, Ex Batallion.
The rest of the cast include Andrea Torres, Yuan Francisco, Eric Quizon, Pancho Magno, Dion Ignacio, Chynna Ortaleza-Cipriano, Maritoni Fernandez, Kristoffer Martin, Lindsay Johnston, and Reese Tuazon.
Quizon shared the same video on his Instagram account.
“Having fun at the promo shoot for Victor Magtanggol,” he captioned the video.
Gutierrez on her Instagram account also updated her fans about “Victor Magtanggol.”
The Kapuso actress shared a copy of the sequence they were working on last Friday.
“Taping,” she said.
Ortaleza-Cipriano shared her excitement over the project in an Instagram post.
“Real soon. I can almost taste it,” she posted the series’ title on her Instagram.
“Victor Magtanggol” is directed by Dominic Zapanta.
This is the return of Richards to primetime TV after last year’s “Destined To Be Yours” which also starred his onscreen partner, Maine Mendoza.
