Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino
ARE you willing to go under the knife just to make yourself beautiful?
This is what upcoming movie, “Pinay Beauty” (She’s No White) tackles.
Headlined by former award-winning actress Chai Fonacier, Binibining Pilipinas 2016 Maxine Medina, Janus del Prado, Nico Antonio, and Edgar Allan Guzman, the movie is one of the eight entries for this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP).
The trailer shows Fonacier marking the 20th day of her calendar which she calls “Transformation Snow White.”
“Skin white as snow. Lips red as blood. Hair as black as ebony,” she says while fitting Snow White’s iconic yellow, blue, and red dress.
One day, she and Guzman, who portrays her boyfriend, talk about her surgery.
“Sigurado ka ba?” Guzman asks Fonacier.
“Oo. Nagbayad na tayo ng P180,000, di ba?” she tells Guzman.
Fonacier is unaware that Guzman is in trouble.
He was beaten by a man who ordered him, “Ibalik mo sa akin ang pera ko.”
Guzman is given until Sunday to return the money.
His friends help him raise the money, suggesting several ways including selling pre-loved items online.
Directed by Jay Abello, “Pinay Beauty” is produced by Quantum Films, MJM Productions, and Epic Media.
This is Fonacier’s second PPP film after 2017s “Patay na si Hesus” where she played Jude, a lesbian.
