THE RESULTS Manila Spartans pulled the rug from under the previously unbeaten Kyocera Frontiers, handing the latter its very first defeat, 66-56, in the Evo League of the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu basketball court.

Athletic forward Armalon Fernandez had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Jade Seno scored 14 markers to go with seven boards and five assists as the Spartans evened their win-loss record to 1-1.

The loss put a stop to the Frontiers’ three-game winning run in spite of stellar performances from both Matthew Grafilo and Ariel Edera. Grafilo, a former standout of the University of Cebu, had 23 points while Edera punched in 16.

Kyocera was actually within two, 43-45, but couldn’t keep up with the Results Manila in the fourth period to suffer the loss.

In the other Evo League game, the JP Morgan Chase & Co. Bankers edged the Dyninno Jets, 54-51.

Fritz Malinao and Jun Bayon had 12 points each with the former adding 11 rebounds and four steals to help the Bankers get their third win in four games.

The Jets crashed to 1-1 for this season.
