‘Kung Paano Hinihintay Ang Dapithapon’ rules Cinemalaya Film Festival 2018 Awards

CARLO Enciso Catu’s “Kung Paano Hinihintay Ang Dapithapon” dominated the Cinemalaya Film Festival 2018 Awards.

The film won Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, and Best Screenplay. It also received the Netpac Citation.

The awards night was held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on Sunday.

Catu, in a Facebook post, said that he does not know what to feel after winning the film festival.

“Sa susunod na ‘yung nobelang post. Pero gusto ko munang pasalamatan ang mga mabubuting taong naging kasangga ko sa pagbuo ng Kung Paano Hinihintay ang Dapithapon. Maraming maraming salamat sa inyo,” he said.

Headlined by veteran actors Dante Rivero, Perla Bautista, and Menggie Cobarrubias, the film is about an estranged husband who wants to reconcile with his wife.

Named Best Actress was Ai-Ai Delas Alas for her role as a woman involved in a child trafficking syndicate in “School Service.”

In an Instagram post, Delas Alas thanked Cinemalaya jury and everyone involved in the movie. The film’s director Louie Ignacio received the award in her behalf.

She posted a video where she is shown crying after her son, Sancho Vito told her she had won Best Actress.

“Super crayola 48 colors thank you LORD SOBRA! NANALO AKO,” she said.

Meanwhile, teen actress Therese Malvar made history in Cinemalaya as she was named Best Supporting Actress for not just one, but two films “School Service” and “Distance.”

In “Distance,” Malvar plays Karla, the daughter of Liza (Iza Calzado) and (Nonie Buencamino) while in “School Service,” she is Even Linda, a streetchild.

Veteran actor Eddie Garcia won the Best Actor award for portraying a colonel in the film, “ML.”

Ketchup Eusebio was named Best Supporting Actor for “Mamang.”

Winning best director was Che Espiritu for “Pan de Salawal.” The movie also won Best Original Music Score and the Special Jury Award.

“Liway,” which is about the horrors of Martial Law, in the eyes of a child, won the Audience Choice Award and the Special Jury Commendation.

The Best Sound Award went to “Musmos na Sumibol sa Gubat ng Digma.”
