A man suspected to be a  budol-budol (swindling) gang member was arrested by police in downtown Cebu City Monday night.

Officers from the Waterfront Police Station responded to an alarm that a man was seen toting a gun in Colon Street.

Police said the suspect, Manuel Sumalinog allegedly tried to resist arrest by pointing  a gun at them.
But when the policemen drew their pistols in response to the threat, the suspect panicked  and threw the gun away.

Police later discovered that the gun was a replica of a .45 caliber pistol.

Chief Insp. Weldimar Tiu, station commander of the Waterfront Police Station, said his men were able to subdue  the suspect and neutralize him.
Bundles of play money were seized from  Sumalinog’s possession  which the police believe Sumalinog uses as a prop in duping would-be victims to part them from their money.
