Over 70 patients from Barrio Luz, Cebu City availed of the free medical consultations of the Generika Drugstore in celebration of their 15th anniversary on September 22.

The Libreng Konsulta is a monthly activity for Generika branches to provide an extra service to their patrons whom they treat as health partners.
For their 15th year, a nationwide Libreng Konsulta was held simultaneously in over 400 branches nationwide.

Pewee de Vera, National Operations Director for Generika, said Barrio Luz became a favorite place for Generika for its warm welcome and eager participation of the Libreng Konsulta.

“Dito sa Barrio Luz, marami tayong pwedeng matulongan na mga less fortunate people at makikita naman natin kasi maraming nagpa-register (Here in Barrio Luz, we can help many less fortunate people and as we can see a lot of them have pre-registered),” said De Vera.

Rosalina Mendez, 61, was glad that a free consultation was held near her residence.

“Taas ko’g dugo, ganahan gyud ko magpakonsulta og doktor pero wala koy kwarta. Daku kaayo ni nga tabang naku (My blood pressure is high and I really want to consult a doctor but I can’t afford to. This is a big help for me),” said Mendez.

Mendez said she would grab every opportunity for free consultation in order to prevent the worsening of her illness as she still has four daughters to take care of.

On the other hand, 34-year-old Daisy Graciano brought her three-month-old first born baby, who was suffering from cold and cough, to avail of the free consultation.

“Daku kaayo ni nga tabang kay mahal naman magpadoktor ron (This program helps us a lot because going to the doctor is expensive),” said Graciano.

De Vera said that Generika Drugstore wants a continuous relationship with their customers to provide a better healthcare to the community.

“For 15 years, we conducted the monthly Libreng Konsulta since the founder of Generika, Ted Ferrer, established a drugstore for those in need,” said De Vera.

Aside from the free consultations, Generika also distributed free food supplements and vitamins to the patients.
