Golden Cañedo

GOLDEN Cañedo, “The Golden Voice Ng Cebu” still could not believe that she has won as the first ever champion of GMA Network’s singing competition, “The Clash.”

The 16-year-old singer from Minglanilla, Cebu beat Jong Madaliday a.k.a. “Ang Trending R & B Star ng North Cotabato” during the Ultimate Final Clash last September 30.

On her Facebook account, Cañedo said her victory still seems like a dream.

“Panaginip lang ba to? Totoo ba to? Palagi kong natanong sa isip ko. Anong panlaban ko eh bata pa ‘ko? Anong ibubuga ko pa? But nag trust lang ako sa sarili ko at nag pray,” she said.

Cañedo, a student of the University of the Visayas-Minglanilla, performed the classic OPM song “Ngayon” composed by George Canseco during the final round while Madaliday sang Labrinth’s “Jealous.”

The Cebuana singer continued her post saying that her dreams came true because of hard work.

“I just want to say God is super good. Super powerful. Siya nagbigay sa ‘kin ng lakas at talent,” she added.

Before the competition ended, she told herself that win or lose, she was proud that she made it to top five.

Aside from Cañedo and Madaliday, Garrett Bolden (Olongapo City), Josh Ardonado (Cagayan De Oro), and Miriam Manalo (Pampanga) made it to the top five.

“Pero binigay ko na lang lahat ng makakaya ko at ito na tayooooo!!! Champion tayoooo Cebu,” she said.

Cañedo ended her post by thanking her family and supporters who have been with her in her “The Clash” journey.

The competition was hosted by Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid while the judges were Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas, Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha, and Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista.
