A SECOND chance at a world title is the motivation for one of ALA Boxing Gym’s rising stars, Melvin “Gringo” Jerusalem, as he spearheads the fourth installment of the IDOL Boxing Series on Nov. 10 at the Minglanilla Sports Complex in Minglanilla town, south Cebu.

Jerusalem is best remembered for lasting 12 rounds when he faced unbeaten Wanheng Menayothin for the World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight title in Thailand last year despite losing via a unanimous decision.

The Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon native who holds a record of 13 wins, eight knockouts with two defeats and no draw, vows to win against an equally lethal foe in Toto “Muscovado” Landero of Negros Occidental.

Landero, a two-time world title challenger, holds a record of 10 wins, three losses along with two draws and two knockouts.

“I am really thankful to ALA Promotions for giving me a chance to fight in a main event, I will work hard and fight hard in this fight because I want to fight for a world title again,” said Jerusalem in the launching of IDOL 4 yesterday at the Saint Mark Hotel.

Jerusalem is on a two-fight winning streak. He beat Jestoni Racoma and Philip Luis Cuerdo following his loss to fellow Filipino Joey Canoy last year.

Landero, for his part, is looking to comeback following a two-fight skid including his fight against Thammanoon Niyomtrong in Thailand for the WBA world minimumweight title which he lost via unanimous decision.

The co-main event features Esneth Domingo of Sultan Kudarat fighting Reymark Taday in a 10-rounder bout in the 110lbs category; while Christian Bacolod of Cebu City will be facing Christoval Furog of Sultan Kudarat in the 108lbs division for eight rounds.
