ANS is inaugural champion of Aloysian Open volleyball

THE Abellana National School (ANS) emerged the first-ever champion of the Aloysian Open Volleyball Tournament 18-Under Women last Sunday at the Sisters of Mary School (SMS) Girlstown in Talisay City, Cebu.

The ANS volleybelles defeated Dalaguete in the finals to be crowned champion.

Hannah Cabantay of ANS was hailed as the Most Valuable Player of the competition.

ANS finished the elimination round with a clean 4-0 (win-loss) record. It defeated Dalaguete, Municipality of Medellin, Ateneo de Cebu- Grade School and Exceed Learning Center- Naga in bracket A.

Ateneo de Cebu’s team B, which settled for third place, led bracket B also with a 4-0 record after the eliminations.

Other teams in Bracket B were Southwestern University (SWU) High Selection, SMS Girlstown, Minglanilla Crushers, and the University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJ-R) Grade School.

ANS, Ateneo de Cebu B, Dalaguete and SWU- High Selection made it to the semis.

Organizer Van Halen Parmis said in his Facebook post that the tournament was “ an opportunity for all the volleyball players to showcase their skills and abilities.”

“Win or lose, they are all winners as they learned from this experience and inspire other aspiring players,” he added.
