THE SISTERS of Mary School (SMS) Boystown Aloysians failed to make history after bowing to defending champions Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Greywolves, 3-1, in the last elimination match of the 2018 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) secondary football at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday afternoon.
The win allowed the perennial champions DBTC to climbed to third place and completed the semifinals cast of the secondary football, eliminating the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers.
DBTC ended the elimination with a 2-2-1 win-loss-draw record, which gave them a total of seven points, dropping University of San Carlos-Basic Education (USC-BED) Baby Warriors to the fourth spot with a 2-3-0 slate worth six points.
The Greywolves opened their scoring spree early with a goal by Karl Enad just eight minutes into the match. Josh Asignar made it 2-0 six minutes remaining before halftime.
The SMS Aloysians once again fell prey to the Greywolves aggression in the early minutes of the second half with Charles Unabia scoring in the 49th minute.
Vicent Alf Sanchez prevented a shutout for the SMS Aloysians when he scored a goal in the 66th minute.
The knockout semifinal round will be this Saturday at the same venue with top seeded Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu to face USC-BED and DBTC to contest the other finals ticket against University of San Jose Recoletos Baby Jaguars.
