Police officer held for illegal possession of explosives

DAVAO CITY – A police officer was arrested here for violation of Republic Act No. 9516 or illegal manufacture, sales, possession of firearms and explosives.

Chief Supt. Marcelo C. Morales, Davao regional police director, said they arrested PO2 Glenn Magalso on Nov. 23 in Tagum City.

Magalso is assigned at the 1st provincial mobile force company, Davao del Norte provincial police office.

Morales said Magalso was allegedly asking P270,000 for the sale of various components of explosives, including 15 sacks nitrate, 500 blasting caps, 1 box detonating cord and 96 meters additional detonating cord.

Magalso and the poseur-buyer have set to meet at the National Highway in Barangay Magdum in Tagum City. When the money was given to him, he was arrested as he was boarding his car.

Morales said Magalso was due for transfer to the National Bureau of Investigation main office in Manila for proper disposition.

He said criminal and administrative charges would be filed against Magalso.
