THE UNIVERSITY of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers won their second in a row, beating the Southwestern University (SWU)-PHINMA Cobras, 89-79, in the Minglanilla Mayor’s Cup Inter-Collegiate Christmas Basketball League last Sunday at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
Team captain Toto Segumpan continued his scorching scoring, piling up 20 points to help raise the Green Lancers’ record to 2-0 (win-loss) and deal SWU-PHINMA its first loss of the tournament.
Michael Maestre helped out with 15 while Jancork Cabahug added 13 markers.
The Cobras were paced by the 20 of big man, Red Cachuela.
In the other game, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers notched their first win of the tournament after beating the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars, 85-65.
Nigerian center Rich Managor led six double-figure scorers for USPF with 19 points.
RJ Dinolan collected 21 points for USJ-R.
