Magnolia turned what was deemed a dogfight kind of Game 6 into a rout and a much-awaited championship celebration Wednesday night.

The Hotshots finally ended their title drought after a wire-to-wire 102-86 win over the Alaska Aces in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals for the franchise’s first crown since pulling off a Grand Slam in 2014.
Romeo Travis, the runner-up for Best Import of the conference, had the hot hand to finish with a game-high 32 points that went with 16 rebounds and six assists while Paul Lee, the Best Player of the Conference, added 16 points.

Meanwhile, the PBA on Wednesday approved the string of trades highlighted by the blockbuster deal that sent embattled guard Terrence Romeo to powerhouse San Miguel Beer.

Romeo will try to redeem himself at the Beermen after a tumultuous eighth-month stint at TNT, which dumped him in exchange for bench players David Semerad, Brian Heruela and the rights to San Miguel’s 2021 first round pick.

Two more trades got the go-signal, a couple of which also involved San Miguel Beer.

Veteran swingman Ronald Tubid is making his return to the Beermen after spending a season with the Kia franchise. Tubid was traded back to SMB in exchange for sparingly used Keith Agovida.
San Miguel also acquired guard Paul Zamar from Blackwater for a pair of second round picks in 2021 and 2022.

Interestingly, the reported trade between NLEX and Blackwater centered on national team mainstay and Elite center Poy Erram wasn’t announced on the league’s transaction page.

The Road Warriors reportedly nabbed Erram for their first round draft picks Paul Desiderio and Abu Tratter. The trade proposal, however, didn’t sit well with Filipino basketball fans.
