Where food is filling and heartful

Granola Yogurt Bowl

UP for pure comfort? It’s all easy-breezy in here as Tazza Café and Patisserie expands their selection of homey, and heartful indulgence.

The pure comfort which opens its expanded second branch located in Banilad Town Centre has the answer for those craving for contemporary comfort food. With its interior design belying the restaurant’s unpretentious menu, the dining haunt still serves its tried-and-tested dishes in a most relaxing manner.

The menu is filled with familiar and uncomplicated dishes—from unpretentious appetizers such as Angus Beef Nachos and Korean Sticky Chicken Bibimbap to Torched Salmon and Quinoa Salad, and Granola Yogurt Bowl, Tazza Cafe and Patisserie menu has lured foodies as well as weight watchers to a serving or two of reasonably priced feel-good dishes.

TAZZA Pork Ribs

The Tazza Pork Ribs, as well as the Beef Stroganoff which is slow cooked in savory creamy white sauce, are among the restaurant’s favorites but the delight that’s been getting constant raves, some calls it the heartbreak cake, is the five-layer chocolate Marvelous Cake. The Yema Cake, in particular, is two-layer chocolate and milk chiffon, topped with delectable thick swirls of yema frosting that’s velvety in
texture and rich in taste. That, as with any comfort food, it will have you wiping for the very last icing. One can even take advantage of the P1 Slice of Cake with any order of the main dish and a drink.

Also serving good quality coffee that’s freshly roasted, single origin (you must try their white-brew!), alongside their now-well-loved cakes and pastries, couple Jerese and Dexter Chua runs the proudly Cebuano brand which opened its doors in 2014 with their first branch in Lahug.

“I was always been into baking and before it was just home-based. It came to such point that I was needing of space as a pickup point for my customers and good timing that there was a vacant space in Dexter’s building in Lahug so we started small in 2014,” Jerese enthused.

“It’s always about the quality of ingredients that you put in and Cebuanos always look for that homey, comfort food. Recently we noticed that we are adapting to more healthier options.”

“I am the critic. I remember when she was coming up with the Yema Cake she made ten variations before she was able to come up with the perfect Yema Cake. She is an all particular like in every layer it matters from the placement of the frosting to the cake’s thickness, and portioning,” Dexter said.
