Cebu City, Philippines – Cebu City-Max4 Birada playing head coach Dondon Hontiveros is feeling good about his team’s chances in the upcoming inaugural season of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 season called the President’s Cup, the first leg of which is slated to start at the events area of the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

The Cebu City team is composed of former Cesafi standouts JR Puerto, who used to play for University of Cebu; Nichole Ubalde, a former University of San Jose-Recoletos workhorse; and reigning MVP Rey Anthony Suerte, who played his last year with the University of the Visayas in the recent season.

In a surprising twist of events, a couple of current Cesafi players were allowed by commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy to join the team. These are Red Cachuela of Southwestern University-Phinma and Fletcher Galvez of the University of San Jose-Recoletos.

“I like our chances. Red (Cachuela) is wide who can defend the post and the perimeter,” said Hontiveros, the Cebuano hoops legend who confirmed he will be competing in the three-point shootout.

Hontiveros admitted having a hard time looking for players who could commit their time to properly prepare for this tournament.

However, with Tiukinhoy’s blessing, he was able to tap the aforementioned players. /bmjo
